Bricked Door

This is one of the Second of many Digital images I took when taking Digital Photography... in which this was for a photo project involving taking and printing 10 different images that somehow reflected the self in some way. This is image 8 of that series of 10.

I'm not quite sure what I was thinking when I took this initially, but it seems somewhat fascinating just what exactly bricking up a door from a larger building is like. Why did they brick it? When did they do this... and quite frankly, what does this mean? Could they be blocking someone out? Could they be trapping someone inside? Should I prepare to duck out of the way should the Kool-aid man burst through?
What if they blocked off some portal to another dimension like this?

..... why did I take this picture again?
